I am familiar with ujjayi breath and use that breath in general whenever I practice yoga. Whistle breath is more energizing, like a combination of ujjayi and breath of fire.
I haven’t heard anything about gotu kola helping allergies, but if you hear anything or try it yourself let me know! I will check out the podcast sometime, thank you for the wonderful feedback.

Thanks for checking out Priceless Yoga! I hope you will listen to a podcast and maybe send some feedback!
I haven’t taken much Kundalini Yoga – I’m not familiar with the whistle breath but I know Ujjayi has a similar effect on the vagus nerve and the heart. They might even be part of the same thing – whistle breath and ujjayi – the language of various yoga styles is fascination.
I’m wondering about gotu kola – many years ago I looked for it for my allergies (hayfever, basically) but couldn’t find it at the chinese herb store. Probably would’ve needed the pinyin name. Do you know if it helps with allergies? Just curious.
And THANKS for following my blog! Namaste!

Well, this winter season I haven’t been doing much besides yoga a few times during the week. I used to pay for the gym during the winter, put on my headphones, and do a high resistance/uphill elliptical workout and then finish up with some free weights and stretches.

I’m not sure but I will look into it! I would love to know because I have sun spots on my face also. They lighten up in the winter but the second I’m back in the sun all day (sunscreen or not) they darken. Experiment time!

Finally, someone that’s chosen to follow my blog that I’m actually interested in following in return! Love your site and “pinned” the lemon thing. Sounds good – hey will the lemons help clear up the dark spots on my skin? I think they were initially from old acne but since then the sun has gotten hold of the little scars and turned them into sun spots. Or something.
Thanks again for the follow but especially for the info on your blog!

Glad to hear that you’re enjoying blogging too 🙂 . It’s so fun to just shout out to the world and find like-minded people, isn’t it 😀 ? Thanks for having hope in me, LOL, but I like to blame winter too. I mean, that batch of I-cant’-believe-we’re-snowed-in cookies that I like to make aren’t going to eat themselves ^_^
So how do you adjust to the winter season with exercising? I’m too chicken to take walks outside, as of yet

Hi there! I’m Eats Meets West (EMW), and thanks so much for giving eatsmeetswest.net some love 🙂 . I also started the EMW blog around the same time as you. I hope blogging is going well for you!
Anyways, I’m super excited to see that you’re interested in food and nutrition too (I love the former to death, seeing as it will probably be the death of me, but I’m still working on the latter :P). Alas, I’ve made the decision to get back into a (real) exercise and nutrition regime again, so being able to do yoga would definitely be a plus 🙂 . I look forward to learning from your blog! 😀

Our dog does the same thing! Well, the licking and walking between my legs part. She’s barely 15 pounds, so she doesn’t really knock me over much… Unless I’m doing Warrior 3 and she noses my ankle!

Definitely true. I close the door to my bedroom when I do yoga, and I’m free to keep my eyes open or closed. No dogs running around, nobody comes in to interrupt… It’s so peaceful!
